Irish Step Dance
Over the years our sisters studied Irish Step Dance and now accompany our band performing jigs and reels.
Quotes from the band:
"If we have an interest in a certain type of music or dance, chances are one of us will study and learn it, then incorporate it into our shows. We really just love to play music and have a fun time trying new things..."
“We are a Celtic band…but we wander. We may play the bagpipes or put them down to travel through the Middle East, Latin America or Polynesia. Sometimes we choose to stay right here at home with Bluegrass or Western Swing music…”
Bluegrass & Western Swing
Our fiddle and dobro player love Bluegrass music and our parents are proud Southerners, which is the reason you'll find some Bluegrass and Western Swing music included in our mix.
While traveling through and living in the South Pacific, our dancers studied Hula, Tahitian and Maori Poi dances. We feature a Polynesian revue in each of our concerts.
Our mom/grandmother/great-grandmother began bellydancing over 30 years ago. Today our family has four generations of professional bellydancers.
Our family has spent years in Mexico, in fact many of our younger band members were born there. As a result we have a repertoire of Mexican canciones and dances that we love to perform.
Our band MC and mandolin/bagpipe/guitar/banjo player Brady, also performs Flamenco guitar. His music is often accompanied by our Flamenco dancers.
Our group's main vibe is Celtic. Honoring our Scots-Irish heritage we learned to play a variety of Celtic tunes and songs. Our band performs in Blackwatch kilts and our show finale features the Great Highland Bagpipes.
Lobo Del Mar is a family. One family, whose members form, among other endeavors, a Celtic band and dance troupe. Over the years this family has traveled the globe, experiencing dozens of cultures, and absorbing their influences along the way. What began as a Celtic band has become something indefinable, though when pressed we’ll say “world music and dance”. Audiences are given a taste of the family’s mixed heritage, as well as all the beautiful places this family has called home.
